We were coming down Willunga Hill on the black top in SA and our empty roof rack came off the car roof, broke the pop rivets that held the mounting rails for the rack off the roof (had 1/2 the alloy pop rivet in roof & other half in mounting rails).
Luckily there was a Land Rover Discovery (not a small car) next to us, hit their bull bar & winch then they ran over the roof rack. We had no body damage on our car. Don’t know how it came off our car apart from the broken pop rivets.
The rack was strewn all down the road for 100 metres. Good thing it went under the Disco cos if it had been a bit higher & hit the windscreen it could have injured or killed someone (there was a small car behind the Disco).
Club 4×4 insurance got in touch with the lady driving the Disco and sorted her out straight after I had reported the accident. Club 4×4 covered our rack and the repairs to other car in very quick time. Thank you Club 4×4, I have already recommended Club 4×4 Insurance to other 4×4 drivers.

I recently had the strangest thing happen to me in Katherine NT. We were set up in a caravan park in Katherine for a few days. I had my head under the bonnet checking a few things when I heard a loud bang on what I thought was the bonnet. I assumed it was a bit of a tree branch falling from above. On putting the bonnet down I noticed a bone on the bonnet. Then I saw the cracks in the windscreen. It seems as though a bird (believed to be a Kyte) had dropped it from a reasonable height. I rang Club4x4, assured them the story was in fact true. After a bit of run around with the repairer not sending a invoice/receipt, the claim was paid out. Thanks to Club4x4 .
