Article from Unsealed 4X4.

The results are in and the Ford Ranger was officially Australia’s best selling 4WD last year. The Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI), provided us with 4WD/AWD sales figures for the 2021 calendar year and the Ranger has taken out the top spot, selling 45,986 vehicles, an increase of 21.4% from the previous year.

FCAI Chief Executive Tony Weber said, “Despite the pandemic restricting access to showrooms in 2021, Australian consumers found ways to purchase new vehicles and did so in solid number.”

So who else placed in 2021’s top 10? Well, it’s no surprise that Toyota placed four of their vehicles. However, Aussies were also happy to lighten their wallets for Isuzu, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Nissan.

So without further ado, here are the top 10 best selling 4WD/AWDs in Australia for 2021.

Given the global shortage of microprocessors and supply chain issues in 2021, which was of course compounded by the pandemic, I wonder if these figures would have been different if consumers were able to get the models they wanted when they wanted. It will be interesting to see what 2022 brings as automotive manufacturers continue to strengthen their supply chains.
