What a year 2024 has been! At Club 4X4 Insurance, we've been privileged to help families and adventurers like you explore more, road trip further, and drive Australia’s most incredible (and remote) tracks. From epic 4X4 builds to luxurious caravans and some very remote off-road recovery claims, we’re wrapping up the year with some impressive milestones.

Most Expensive 4WD Covered

The 4WD that takes the cake for most expensive vehicle covered by Club 4X4 in 2024 is a highly modified 2023 Ford F350 Lariat SuperCrew, coming in at $459,000 ($185,000 of which is modifications!). Powered by a massive 6.7L V8 Diesel Engine, this powerhouse combines American toughness with Australian adventure spirit and is a pretty epic 4WD choice for those who want to explore without limits.

Most Expensive Caravan Covered

Some adventurers like to travel in absolute style, and we get it. In 2024, we insured a top-of-the-line 2024 Bruder EXP8 caravan worth a staggering $359,000. With all the bells and whistles and off-road capabilities you could dream of, it’s the kind of caravan that you could take anywhere (which is a perfect fit for insurance that can go anywhere you can legally go in Australia).

Total Value of 4WD Modifications Covered

In case you're new here, we specialise in comprehensive insurance for 4WDs, caravans and camper trailers, and can cover the modifications on them as a separate agreed value to your base vehicle (including the labour costs to have them installed).

Why? Because modifications like bullbars, dual-battery setups, aftermarket suspension, dyno-tunes (and the rest) help make more of your adventures possible.

This year alone, we've covered a jaw-dropping $796 million worth of 4WD modifications!

Number of Adventurers Protected

We’re proud to have protected over 52,000 Adventurers in 2024. That’s tens of thousands of families, mates, and solo explorers hitting the road with peace of mind, knowing we’ve got their backs.

Highest Value of Mods on a Single Vehicle

Talk about dedication! One adventurer who's insured with Club 4X4 has over $300,000 in modifications on their 4WD. The modifications list on this 4WD is as long as most of us could ever dream of, with several drivetrain upgrades, a custom canopy, 12V system, towing upgrades and more.

Top 3 Off-Road Recovery Claims - Furthest from Home

Even the best-prepared adventurers sometimes need a helping hand. This is often where our Off-Road Recovery Cover comes into play. We include $1,500 as standard with all our comprehensive policies, with the option to upgrade to higher amounts depending on how remote you’re travelling. It covers things like mechanical breakdown offroad or just getting bogged enough to need professional help.

Here are the top 3 off-road recovery claims that took place furthest from their respective homes:

  1. An adventurer from the inner western suburbs of Sydney, NSW was furthest from home when they made their off-road recovery claim in Ningaloo, WA.
  2. Following not too far behind was a recovery near Mullewa (around 100km East of Geraldton) in Western Australia, with this family calling South Sydney home.
  3. Leaving their home in Brisbane, QLD, our 3rd off-road recovery furthest from home in 2024 took place on the outskirts of the Tanami Desert (connects Alice Springs to the Kimberly region).

All three of these recoveries took place in Western Australia, a state known for its vast, rugged terrain and breathtakingly remote locations.

The Golden Rules of Off-Road Towing

Off-road towing puts big loads through every part of your vehicle, and if the setup isn’t right, things can unravel quickly. Broken components, poor control, and near-miss moments usually come back to the same few fundamentals. Get those right, and towing in the bush becomes predictable, controlled, and far more enjoyable.

Planning Fuel Stops for Remote Area Travel

Fuel planning for remote travel doesn’t need to be complicated, but it does need to be conservative. It’s about understanding your real-world consumption, knowing how far you can comfortably travel, allowing a buffer, and choosing fuel-carrying solutions that are simple and easy to live with.
