Adelaide-based KPM Motorsport has the local rights to build a version of the Hennessey Velociraptor Ford Ranger…only 25 will be built.

By Isaac BoberArticle from Unsealed 4X4

Adelaide-based KPM Motorsport is the local Hennessey vehicle builders and agents in Australia and have been given the tick of approval to build a local version of its Hennessey VelociRaptor. Unlike the Yankee version, the Aussie VelociRaptor is based on an XLS Ranger with a 3.2-litre five-cylinder turbo-diesel – not the same engine as the US version which will hit 96km/h in 4.9 seconds.

Only 25 of these things will be built and while pricing hasn’t been announced, KPM Motorsport reckons the price will be somewhere in the region of $88,000-$95,000+ORCs and include the price of the base vehicle.

So, what are the key changes? The engine cops an ECU software upgrade, performance exhaust (but with a DPF you shouldn’t expect this to make a huge difference), and high-flow intercooler with power and torque up to 181kW at 3300rpm (up from 147kW at 3000rpm) and 590Nm at 2200rpm (up from 470Nm at 1750-2500rpm). Okay, so far, so, hmmm. It gets a four-inch lift via a Stage 1 ICON Coilover Suspension Upgrade and unique 18-inch alloys wrapped in BFG KM2 rubber, as well as a Hennessey leather interior pack, bespoke grille and bumpers.

The KPM Motorsport Hennessey VelociRaptor has a three-year, 60,000km warranty which replaces the standard Ford five-year warranty.
