As has become tradition over the past several years, a bevy of 2021 Jeep concept vehicles will be unveiled at the Moab Easter Jeep Safari.

The all-new 2021 Jeep concept vehicles include the Jeep Magneto, which is described as a Jeep Wrangler BEV concept is a sustainable, stealthy, rock-climbing force; the Jeepster Beach, which is an update of a 1968 Jeepster Commando (C-101) that blends a vintage body with a modern drivetrain; the Jeep Red Bare, which is a fully-custom Gladiator Rubicon concept with a an EcoDiesel engine and a 91:1 crawl ratio; and the open-air Jeep Orange Peelz.

These new concept vehicles will be joined by three Jeep and Mopar concepts unveiled last year, but heading to Moab for the first time. These are the Jeep Gladiator Farout, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 and the Jeep Gladiator Top Dog.

Originating in 1967 as a one-day trail drive, the Easter Jeep Safari is now a nine-day event hosted by Moab’s Red Rock 4-Wheelers 4X4 club and is run out of Moab, Utah.

The new 2021 Jeep concept vehicles are as follows:

Jeep Magneto

THE JEEP WRANGLER MAGNETO CONCEPT IS A FULLY CAPABLE ELECTRIC VEHICLE.

The Magneto is a zero-emissions BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) based on a two-door Wrangler Rubicon. It runs a custom-built axial flux electric motor that makes a claimed 212kW and 370Nm (comparable to the Wrangler’s standard 3.6L V6 petrol engine) and it drives through a six-speed manual gearbox.

Jeep says the performance difference between Magneto and a V6 Wrangler is negligible in moderate driving conditions, except that the Magneto is near silent and it will run from 0-60mph in 6.8 seconds as maximum torque is available from zero revs.

The Magneto’s e-motor is powered by four evenly distributed lithium-ion battery packs with a combined 70 kW/h (800V). All the electrics are housed in waterproof enclosures to maintain the Wrangler’s 30-inch water-fording capability.

As well as unique styling, the Jeep Magneto scores a JPP two-inch lift, 17-inch black alloys, 35-inch muddies, custom roll cage, Mopar rock rails, steel bumper and belly-pan, and a Warn winch.

Jeepster Beach

THIS YEAR’S JEEP “RESTO-MOD” IS CALLED THE JEEPSTER BEACH. IT’S ESSENTIALLY A 1968 JEEPSTER COMMANDO (C-101) BLENDED WITH A 2020 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON.

The Jeepster Beach is a ‘resto-mod’ vehicle that’s a throwback to the 1968 Jeepster Commando, a vehicle described as the first compact 4X4 Jeep with an automatic transmission and modern amenities such as doors with roll-up side glass, a heater and roof as standard equipment.

The body of the Jeepster Beach was modified, combining the original chrome trim with a two-tone Hazy IPA and Zinc Oxide paint job.

While the Jeepster Beach looks vintage, under the skin it’s all modern Wrangler running gear. It’s powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four making a claimed 253kW and 500Nm of torque. This is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and 4:1 transfer case, delivering power to 35-inch tyres.

Jeep Red Bare

THE JEEP RED BARE GLADIATOR RUBICON CONCEPT IS POWERED BY A 3.0L ECODIESEL V-6 ENGINE.

We reckon the Jeep Red Bare Gladiator Rubicon concept would be a huge hit of it was sold in Australia. Instead of Gladiator’s 3.6L petrol V6 offered by Jeep Australia, the Red Bare Gladiator Rubicon is powered by Jeep’s 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 engine that makes a claimed 193kW and 600Nm of torque. The transmission is an eight-speed auto.

The Red Bare runs Dana 44 heavy-duty axles front and rear with 4.88 axle ratios, combining with the transfer case to provide an impressive 91:1 crawl ratio.

The Fire Cracker Red exterior contrasts with matte black graphics and gold accents. There’s also a Mojave bonnet and cowl, custom bonnet graphic, matte black seven-slot grille insert, black factory soft-top and half-doors.

On the inside the Red Bare gets Katzkin Black leather seats with red stitching and custom red flannel inserts, and this design theme continues around the instrument panel.

The Gladiator Red Bare scores a JPP two-inch lift kit, 17-inch matte black wheels, 37-inch BFGoodrich Mud-Terrains, cargo bed-mounted sport bar, JPP Sand Slider rock rails, bed cover and rack system, factory steel bumpers, Warn winch and front bumper grille guard.

Jeep Orange Peelz

BASED ON A TWO-DOOR WRANGLER, THE JEEP ORANGE PEELZ CONCEPT HAS JPP HALF DOORS AND A CUSTOM REMOVABLE ONE-PIECE FREEDOM TOP GLASS SUNROOF.

The Jeep Orange Peelz is based on a two-door Wrangler running a close-to-standard 3.6L petrol V6. It features JPP half doors and a custom removable one-piece Freedom Top glass sunroof, and it has a JPP two-inch lift with FOX shocks, 17-inch JPP beadlock-capable alloys and 37-inch BFGoodrich KM3 muddies.

Largely a styling exercise, the Orange Peelz has a satin black 360-degree custom beltline graphic and satin black vintage Jeep badges that contrast with the bright Orange Peelz colour. It also has black Mopar bonnet latches with the Jeep Willys logo, JPP LED lights mounted at the base of the A-pillars, a custom JPP Rubicon steel bumper, an exclusive JPP 8000lb Rubicon Warn winch and custom rock rails. A JPP Swing Gate Hinge Reinforcement allows for a larger spare tyre.

On the inside you’ll find plaid armrests, upper and lower seat inserts, Orange Peelz mid-instrument panel colour, and accent-orange stitching on the steering wheel, shifter boots and the park-brake handle.

The ‘new to Moab’ 2020 concepts

The previously seen 2020 concepts to make their first appearance at the Moab Easter Jeep Safari are the Jeep Gladiator Farout, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 and the Jeep Gladiator Top Dog.

JEEP GLADIATOR FAROUT CONCEPT.

The Gladiator Farout is an overlanding vehicle powered by Jeep’s fuel-efficient, long-range-capable 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 and it features a customised AT Overland Equipment Habitat Truck Topper that can sleep up to four occupants. It runs a JPP two-inch lift kit, 17-inch rims with 37-inch mud-terrain tyres, a steel bumper with a 12,000lb Warn winch, custom front and rear rock rails and FOX performance shocks.

JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON 392 CONCEPT.

The Wrangler Rubicon 392 concept runs a 92 c.i. V8 Hemi engine that makes a claimed 450hp (335kW) and 450ft-lb (610Nm) of torque, resulting in a claimed 0-100km/h time of less than five seconds. Jeep describes it as “the ultimate fun-to-drive Jeep vehicle with more off-road capability than ever in a Jeep Wrangler”.

THE JEEP GLADIATOR TOP DOG CONCEPT.

The Jeep Gladiator Top Dog is aimed at hungry mountain bikers and is equipped with a hotdog roller grille. It runs a PCOR canopy, 17-inch JPP wheels, 37-inch tyres, a two-inch lift and FOX shocks.
