Incomparable Insurance Article 3 – Covering your Touring Gear

Have you ever stopped to think about how much gear you take on your off-road adventures? Tents, chairs, camp ovens, fishing gear, recovery gear, all the things that aren’t attached to your 4×4 but are critical to the journey. If some or all of this gear was to get lost or stolen, how would you recover the cost?

Some insurers will cover you for damage to your personal effects if they’re damaged in an accident, which is great, but what happens if it gets lost or stolen? Some home insurance policies have options for this coverage, but you may have to list the items with them to ensure they’re covered.

Club 4×4 saw this gap, so our Comprehensive Motor Insurance includes Australia wide personal effects cover as an additional benefit, designed to help keep the adventure going!.. As an automatic inclusion in your Comprehensive Motor Insurance, you have coverage for accidental loss or damage of up to $2000 for the gear that you take along with you on your off-road adventures.

If $2000 is not enough, you can select an increased limit of up to either $5,000 or $10,000 for an additional premium.

This coverage is available to you whether your gear is damaged in a claimable event or not, whether it is with your car or not. Another way that Club 4×4 is breaking the insurance mould!

As always, please read through your PDS to best understand your coverage and to make a decision on whether it is right for you. If you have any questions please contact us on 1800 CLUB 4X4 or go to our website at

An excess of $500 will be applied to a claim under this cover, with a maximum of two (2) claims per policy year. A maximum limit of $1000 also applies to any individual item. Read the PDS for more detail.
